Biker Snobs?
Many years ago when I first began riding, I was so excited and proud to become one of the free spirits, rolling down the road with the wind in my face. As I passed my first 2-wheel biker, I gave the customary signal as I passed him. (I use three fingers since I ride a trike.) To my surprise, I got nothing – no two fingers from the left hand pointed downward to acknowledge me, a fellow rider. Hmm, what was that about? I noticed this happened a few times on other rides. I was being shunned, deemed not worthy, by fellow bikers.
I will not give up! I have noticed it is much better since trikes are becoming more popular. Most motorcyclists now acknowledge me! But then, I was shunned again. I also ride a Vespa Primavera for fun. Once again, smile on my face, I gave the sign…two fingers pointed downward on the left hand as I passed the other motorcyclist. No response.
Can we all just acknowledge anyone with the courage and the dream to ride outside of a car? Everyone is at a different part of how they want to ride and how much they can afford. Let’s acknowledge all who ride scooters and any form of motorcycle. But always have fun, living the
